KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 29): UMW Holdings Bhd is divesting its controlling stake in its Taiwan pipes and related product trading subsidiary for NT$20 million (RM2.73 million).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, UMW said its wholly-owned subsidiary PFP (Aust) Holdings Pty Ltd had entered into a share purchase agreement with Huang Hsueh Fang for the disposal of 375,000 shares or a 75% stake in PFP Taiwan Co Ltd.

UMW said the disposal is in line with its strategic plan to exit from the oil and gas sector.

The group’s share price gained 20 sen or 4% to close at RM5.20 today, giving it a market capitalisation of RM6.08 billion.
