KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 13): UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Datuk Noorazman Abd Aziz (pictured) as its new chairman, effective today.

His appointment follows the retirement of Tan Sri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa in July, after holding the position since May 2017, the group said in a statement.

Noorazman, 64, has served the board of UEM Sunrise as a non-independent non-executive director since October 2018.

He has over 37 years of experience in banking and finance, investments and capital markets. He previously served as executive director, investments at Khazanah Nasional Bhd. He also held key positions in Citigroup, Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd, Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange and the Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority, the group said.

Currently, he is also chairman of the board of trustees of Yayasan UEM, the philanthropic arm of UEM Group Bhd, as well as the board of trustees of International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance or INCEIF.

He also holds directorships in UEM Edgenta Bhd, PLUS Malaysia Bhd, Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Bhd and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd. In addition, he sits on the investment panel of Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) as well as the advisory boards of Creador Sdn Bhd and Ancora Fund Management Co in Indonesia.
