KUALA LUMPUR (Sep 20): Uber’s smartphone app UberEATS, which will connect Malaysians to food from their favourite eateries, will be available in Malaysia from tomorrow.

The  app, which is an online meal ordering and delivery platform, is currently used in 27 countries and over 100 cities globally.

There are currently more than 200 delivery partners on the platform.

“Using the power of Uber’s technology, we are going to help Malaysians enjoy the right food they want, right now, at the touch of a button,” said UberEATS Malaysia and Singapore General Manager Shri Chakravarthy Gopalakrishnanhe at the launch of the app today.

Delivery will be made via motorcycles, and not cars for now.

“Definitely there are plans to bring in cars, but given the traffic in KL and the availability of motorbikes, we thought it would be a better idea to go with motorbikes for now.

“Uber’s technology aims to make things better for all, and UberEATS is no exception. With this rollout, we are creating flexible earning opportunities for more Malaysians who delight in connecting people with their food,” said Shri.
