KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Mega First Corp Bhd (MFCB) said today the Arbitral Tribunal had on Friday (Sept 28) ordered Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd to pay Serudong Power Sdn Bhd RM28.79 million, which includes principal shortfall in energy and capacity payments (EP and CP) from November 2007 to December 2016.

Serudong is a 51%-owned subsidiary of MFCB. Today, MFCB told Bursa Malaysia that the principal shortfall in EP and CP amounted to RM19.24 million.

The group said the RM28.79 million includes "interest on the shortfall in EP and CP for the period from Nov 15, 2007 to Nov 30, 2016, and calculated up to May 31, 2018 amounting to RM9.135 million; and claimant's representation costs fixed at RM420,000".

"Accordingly, the amount of the final award amounting to RM28.79 million would have a positive impact on the earnings and net assets of MFCB for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2018," MFCB said.
