KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 9): Malaysia will initiate an administrative review of anti-dumping duties on imports of cold rolled coils (CRC) from China, South Korea and Vietnam.

This follows the completion of a preliminary determination into the anti-dumping investigation concerning imports of the commodity.

“On Oct 11, the Government received a petition from an interested party requesting an administrative review of anti-dumping duties on imports of CRC from China, South Korea and Vietnam.

“The request is made in accordance with Section 28 (1)(a) of the Countervailing and Anti-dumping Duties Act 1993 (Act 504), in which it is based on the grounds that the dumping margins have changed substantially,” the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) said in a statement today.

The final determination of the administrative review will be made within 180 days from the date of initiation.

“MITI will provide a set of questionnaires to interested parties by Nov 12. Other interested parties may request the questionnaires no later than Nov 19. Interested parties may also provide additional supporting evidence to MITI before Dec 6,” it said.

In the event no response is received within the specified period, the Government will make its final findings based on the best facts available.

The original anti-dumping investigation was initiated on Aug 27, 2015 and the final affirmative anti-dumping duties were imposed for a period of five years from May 24, 2016 until May 23, 2021, ranging from 3.06% to 23.78%.

Yesterday, MITI had also imposed provisional anti-dumping duties ranging from 3.33% to 16.13% on imports of galvanised iron from China and Vietnam for not more than 120 days.
