KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 29): Top Glove Corp Bhd had on Monday (Aug 27) obtained an interim Mareva injunction against Adventa Capital Pte Ltd, its directors Low Chin Guan and Wong Chin Toh, and ACPL Sdn Bhd to freeze and prevent dissipation of the defendants' assets worldwide.

In a statement, Top Glove said the Mareva injunction is in relation to legal proceedings initiated against the defendants in Malaysia and arbitration proceedings against Adventa Capital in Singapore. According to the statement, Top Glove and its subsidiary Top Care are claiming a sum of not less than RM640.5 million for alleged conspiracy to defraud and fraudulent misrepresentations made by Adventa Capital, Low, and Wong in relation to the acquisition of Aspion Sdn Bhd.

Top Glove said: "The Mareva injunction, which serves to freeze and prevent dissipation of the defendants' assets worldwide, was based on fresh evidence that was recently obtained, which was not available when the previous Mareva injunction applications were heard."

"The new evidence has also been presented in the Singapore proceedings filed against Adventa Capital, whereby a Mareva injunction application was also filed in aid of the pending Arbitration Proceedings against Adventa Capital at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. The ongoing litigation has not and will not impact Aspion's or Top Glove's business operations, which continue as usual. Top Glove remains positive in terms of outlook and is confident of continued growth," Top Glove said.
