KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): AirAsia Group Bhd's group chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the low-cost carrier will try to put on extra flights to help fleeing tourists in Lombok, Indonesia, which was hit by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake.

"All our flights are running [on] time and we will try to put on some extra flights. Stay strong. All helplines are open," he tweeted this morning.

He also voiced his support for those who are still in Lombok and that AirAsia will not give up on them.

So far, death toll from the earthquake has hit 82 and is expected to rise with initial reports of hundreds injured and thousands of buildings collapsed.

At 12.06pm, AirAsia rose 0.57% or 2 sen to RM3.51 with 1.12 million shares done.
