KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): CIMB Research has maintained its “Neutral” rating on the timber sector and said share prices of timber stocks that it covers fell 4% in 2014, although they outperformed the market by 2 percentage points over the same period.

In a note Jan 21, the research house said it expects timber earnings to rise significantly this year but weak palm oil prices could mean that any re-rating of the sector will be limited.

“We maintain our Hold calls on Jaya Tiasa Holdings Bhd, Ta Ann Holdings Bhd and Eksons Corporation Bhd.

“The sector remains a Neutral. We prefer Ta Ann as it offers the highest dividend yield,” it said.
