KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 11): TikTok, the video-focused social networking service owned by Chinese company ByteDance, is the most searched for social media platform around the world, while Facebook has experienced the biggest decrease from Jan–Sep 2021, according to digital marketing solutions company UXEL SEM.

In a statement Wednesday (Nov 10), the UXEL SEM digital marketing solution team said TikTok saw more than 100% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Germany, while it rose 78% in Norway.

Meanwhile, Facebook saw the biggest decrease in all the countries covered during the period, with the highest variance in Brazil (31% drop).

Youtube usage fell in all the countries surveyed with the exception of Germany where it rose 5% y-o-y.

American social news aggregation, web content rating, and discussion website Reddit grew in all countries surveyed, while WhatsApp, the freeware, cross-platform centralized instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service owned by Meta Platforms saw growth only in the United States but dipped elsewhere.
