SINGAPORE (June 15): The roar of Tigerair is coming to an end.

From July 25, Tigerair will be officially integrated into the Scoot brand with both airlines operating under a common license, or Air Operator Certificate, the two airlines announced on Thursday.

While the plan is still subject to final regulatory approval, the Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group siblings say this is the “final milestone” in the integration process which was set in motion since May 2016, when they were brought under a common holding company, Budget Aviation Holdings.

All fight schedules will remain unchanged. However, the flight designator code for Scoot flights will be changed from the current TZ to TR – the code currently used for Tigerair flights.

Scoot’s website, www.flyscoot.com, will be the sole booking platform for all flights currently operated by Scoot and Tigerair, while the Scoot call centre will service bookings from both airlines.

The current Scoot-Tigerair check-in counters will be refreshed to reflect a single Scoot brand, while their cabin crew, or Scootees, will don a new uniform in celebration of Scoot’s new chapter ahead.

Tigerair’s Airbus A320-family aircraft will also receive a makeover to reflect the Scoot name and be dressed in Scoot’s signature bright yellow curves. The repainting will be carried out progressively and is expected to be completed by mid-2018.

Scoot and Tigerair passengers with existing flight bookings scheduled on July 25 or later will be contacted via e-mail from June 15 to July 23 with their updated itineraries.

“The Scoot brand, known for its cheeky and fun vibe as well as innovative products, is well-loved by travellers around the world,” says Lee Lik Hsin, CEO of Budget Aviation Holdings.

“We are looking forward to taking the brand further and offering guests a seamless travel experience throughout Scoot's expanded network, with the completion of our integration into a single airline,” Lee adds.

As at 4.24pm, shares of SIA are trading 8 Singapore cents lower at S$9.96.
