KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): Shares of Theta Edge Bhd, which climbed to a three-year high of 59 sen yesterday, slide 17% after the company's announcement on its net losses of RM5.48 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2017 (1QFY17).

Similarly, revenue slumped 71.43% to RM11.7 million, from RM40.95 million in the same period last year.

The net losses are in sharp contrast with the quarterly net profit of RM1.04 million in the previous corresponding quarter. Theta Edge attributed the losses to lack of new contracts to replace projects it has completed in the financial year ended Dec 31, 2016 (FY16).

The counter started the trading day on a soft note. It opened at 50 sen, nine sen below yesterday's closing before slipping to a day's low of 48 sen.

As at 4pm, shares of Theta Edge lost 10 sen at 49 sen, with 2.9 million shares changing hands, valuing the company at RM52.55 million. The stock has rebounded from the low of 25 sen in January. Year to date, the counter has rallied nearly 69%.
