KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 29): Sovereign fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd is not going to float the shares of Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd (TAR) this year, although the plan is to eventually list the operator of Kidzania Malaysia theme park on the stock exchange, said Khazanah managing director Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar.

"Looking at things, we are already on the tail end of September. There are only three months left in this year. So, no (to TAR going for listing in 2014," said Azman after the launch of the 10th edition of Khazanah Megatrends forum.

He said that TAR is doing well financially but Khazanah is in no rush to list the company, as it needs to be on a firmer financial footing before offering the shares to the public, offering an analogy of letting the fruit to fully ripe before plucking it.

TAR, currently wholly owned by Khazanah, is the operator of various theme parks in the country such as Kidzania Malaysia and Singapore, and the ones in Iskandar Malaysia such as Legoland and Puteri Harbour Family Theme Park.

He also said that progress of the restructuring of long-ailing carrier Malaysian Airline System Bhd (MAS) is on track, after speaking to various stakeholders such as the government and employee representatives to help them better understand the importance executing Khazanah's 12 steps of restructurin to return MAS to health.

"The privatisation of MAS is expected to be completed by the end of the year. God willing, the shareholders will cooperate to facilitate this part of the restructuring," Azman said.
