KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 7): Tenaga Nasional Bhd rose as much as 24 sen or 2% possibly on investors' interest in the Malaysian Government-linked company amid speculation on the timing of the nation's 14th General Election (GE14).

State-controlled utility Tenaga's shares rose to their highest so far today at RM14.64 before paring gains. At 3pm, the stock was traded at RM14.54 with some five million shares traded.

"I have no idea what could have driven it up. But it may be possibly because of the approach of elections," Inter-Pacific Securities Sdn Bhd research head Pong Teng Siew told theedgemarkets.com.

Malaysia held its GE13 on May 5, 2013.
