KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 30): Tenaga Nasional Bhd shares climbed by as much as 14 sen or 0.91% to RM15.54 today, after UBS Investment Bank’s research division was reported to have highlighted it as a preferred stock.

At 3.15pm, Tenaga was among the top 30 gainers on Bursa Malaysia, after some 8.16 million shares crossed. The counter pared some gains to trade at RM15.46, giving it a market capitalisation of RM87.71 billion.

In a note on Tuesday, UBS analysts highlighted Tenaga as one of its preferred stocks in ‘special situations’ — in which stocks are either overly discounting some perceived threat, or may engage in restructuring or a possible new investment.

According to Bloomberg data, 80% of analysts with coverage on the stock recommend a ‘Buy’; 23 out of those 26 analysts have a twelve-month target price of RM16.31.

The national utility company has seen strong buying interest since Friday (Nov 24). It gained 42 sen or 2.8% yesterday (Nov 29). 

In the past 12 months, the stock has gained 13.4%.
