KUALA LUMPUR (March 27): Teck Guan Perdana Bhd’ net profit more than doubled to RM1.34 million for the fourth quarter ended Jan 31, 2017 (4QFY17), from RM637,000 a year earlier, on higher palm oil price and volume.

Earnings per share rose to 3.33 sen from 1.59 sen, it said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Revenue also more than doubled to RM87.79 million, from RM 41.79 million in 4QFY16, with palm oil products contributing 96.96% of the revenue.

For the full year, Teck Guan’s net profit rose 44.4% to RM12 million or 29.92 sen per share, from RM8.31 million or 20.72 sen per share in FY16.

Revenue came in at RM377.31 million, 79.2% higher than its FY16 revenue of RM210.57 million.

On its prospects, Teck Guan said the palm oil market is expected to remain challenging, with volatility in exchange rates and unstable commodity prices.

Teck Guan’s share price fell two sen (0.8%) to RM2.54 today, for a market capitalisation of RM101.85 million.
