KUALA LUMPUR: Dutch Lady Milk Industries Bhd has appointed Tarang Gupta (pic) as its new managing director (MD), with effect from Jan 1, 2018.

Gupta succeeds Saw Chooi Lee, who has helmed the company for the last three years, said Dutch Lady, which is owned by its parent company Royal FrieslandVampina, in a statement.

Gupta has been with FrieslandCampina Nigeria since July 2014. Before that, he served as the international marketing director for infant nutrition at FrieslandCampina AMEA, Singapore.

A graduate of the Institute for Technology & Management in Bangalore, Gupta has 16 years of commercial experience, including his tenure with Sara Lee International, Kuala Lumpur.

Saw will remain on Dutch Lady’s board, serving as its non-independent non-executive director, the company said.

Saw joined the group in March 2003 as its commercial director. She became the general manager of FrieslandCampina Hong Kong in 2008 and was promoted to managing director of FrieslandCampina China in 2011. In 2015, she returned to head the Malaysia and Singapore businesses.

“Under her leadership, Dutch Lady Malaysia continued to enhance its performance exceeding RM1 billion turnover annually despite the challenging market conditions after [the goods and services tax] implementation in 2015,” Dutch Lady said.
