KUALA LUMPUR (May 30): Stone Master Corp Bhd managing director Datuk Koh Mui Tee and executive director Datuk Lee Hwa Cheng walked out of the company's extraordinary general meeting (EGM) here today as both claimed the meeting was invalid.

The EGM seeks to remove Koh and Hwa Cheng and appoint eight new directors in marble and granite products manufacturer Stone Master. Reporters were denied entry into the EGM, but loud argument was heard from outside the meeting room.

A large number of security personnel were at the EGM premises.

Koh said he would organise a press conference after discussing with his lawyers about his next move.

Stone Master major shareholders Datuk Karen Lee Fong Yin and Datuk Eii Ching Siew requisitioned the EGM. Fong Yin and Eii had not spoken to the media so far.

Meanwhile, Stone Master told Bursa Malaysia it received a writ and statement of claim from Starfield Capital Sdn Bhd, which is demanding RM18 million from Stone Master.

Stone Master said Starfield Capital filed the claim dated May 26, 2017 via law firm Messrs Tan Norizan & Associates.

"The Starfield suit is expected to have material financial and operational impact on SMCB (Stone Master).

"Further announcement on the development of the above matter will be made to Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd in due course," Stone Master said.

Besides the RM18 million claim, Stone Master said Starfield Capital was also seeking other legal remedies including interest and cost.

Stone Master's share trade was suspended between 10:22am and 11:22am today in conjunction with the announcement.
