Supercomnet Technologies Bhd (-ve)

SHARES in Supercomnet Technologies Bhd (fundamental: 1.45/3, valuation: 0.5/3), a Kedah-based manufacturer of wires and cables for the automotive and medical industries, triggered our proprietary momentum algorithm yesterday for the second time this year.

The stock closed 4.5 sen or 17.65% higher at 30 sen, after 72.68 million shares were exchanged, a big jump from its 200-day average volume of 2.82 million shares.

Supercomnet Technologies Bhd is acquiring the remaining 80% stake in Supercomal Medical Products Sdn Bhd from Shiue Jong-Zone and persons acting in concert (PACs) for RM80 million. Shiue is the managing director of Supercomnet, with a 19.09% direct stake in the company.

The acquisition will be satisfied via a cash payment of RM4 million and the issue of 400 million new Supercomnet shares at 19 sen apiece.

The buy will increase the combined shareholding in the company of Shiue and PACs to 74.68%, from 32.98% presently.

Shiue and the PACs are also seeking from the Securities Commission Malaysia an exemption to undertake a mandatory takeover offer for the shares not owned by them.
