Damansara Realty Bhd (+ve)

TRADING of the shares in Damansara Realty Bhd (fundamental: 1.7/3; valuation: 0.9/3) triggered our momentum algorithm last Friday for the first time this year.

The stock closed three sen or 8.45% higher at 38.5 sen, after 4.83 million shares were done, over 10 times higher than its 200-day average trading volume of 468,594 shares.

The group terminated last November its plan to issue redeemable convertible notes to raise up to RM150 million as it expects its “stronger balance sheet to anchor its group financing through commercial borrowings and internal funds”.

Its major shareholders are Seaview Holdings Sdn Bhd, which controls a 49.57% stake, and Johor Corp (13.81%). Seaview is the vehicle of Datuk Daing A Malek Daing A Rahaman, Damansara Realty’s former executive vice chairman who resigned from the post in November. Daing is also a member of the Johor Council of Royal Court.
