Ark Resources Bhd (-ve)

TRADING of shares in Ark Resources Bhd (fundamental: 1.95/3, valuation 0.9/3) triggered our momentum algorithm on Friday for the first time this year.

The stock closed 11 sen or 31.43% higher at 46 sen, with 465,800 shares done versus its 200-day average volume of 756 shares.

On Sept 4, Ark Resources announced that its non-independent and non-executive chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Yeop Abd Rahman had resigned, citing personal interest.

Ark Resources’ net profit fell 18.46% to RM53,000 in the second financial quarter ended June 30, 2018 (2QFY18) from RM65,000 a year ago on the back of lower revenue recorded. Its quarterly revenue decreased by 6.92% to RM1.75 million, from RM1.88 million in 2QFY17. For the cumulative six months (1HFY18), the company’s net profit plunged 32.43% to RM75,000 from RM111,000 a year ago, while revenue fell 25.21% to RM3.34 million from RM4.47 million in 1HFY17.
