KUALA LUMPUR (July 17): The National Water Services Commission (SPAN) will propose a change of management in the Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) if the water disruption which will affect several districts in Selangor on July 23 to 26 is not restored on time.

SPAN chairman Charles Anthony Santiago said they took the matter seriously and hoped that the water supply would be restored by 9 pm on July 26 as promised to all affected areas.

“We (SPAN) are also quiet troubled with the water disruption, we have discussed this and have even held meetings on this matter.

“If by 9 pm on July 26, the water supply is not restored, SPAN will submit a request to Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari to make management changes in Air Selangor,” he told a press conference at the Parliament’s lobby here today.

Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Syabas) in a statement yesterday said a total of 758 areas in Petaling, Klang, Shah Alam, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor, Kuala Selangor, and Kuala Langat will be experiencing a scheduled water supply disruption between 36 and 84 hours from 9 am on July 23.

It said the water disruption will affect 758,570 account holders due to improvement works on water supply system at Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (LRA SSP1).
