KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 25): Owners of Sky Awani Residences — also known as Sky Awani 1 — in Sentul may see their units completed in August next year, nine months earlier than its tentative completion date of May 2019.

SkyWorld founder and group managing director Datuk Ng Thien Phing said progress on construction has reached 60%.

“We have successfully launched 1,934 affordable homes under the Sky Awani collection in Jalan Ipoh and Sentul. Both developments have received 100% take-up rate in their first day of opening [for sale],” he told reporters after the topping off ceremony of Sky Awani Residences at Sentul today.

Sky Awani 1 is a Federal Territories Housing (RUMAWIP) project developed by SkyWorld Development Group.

The fully-sold leasehold development comprises 1,226 units with a built-up of 800 sq ft, and selling at a fixed price of RM300,000.

Following the success of Sky Awani 1 and 2, SkyWorld will launch its fourth RUMAWIP project next year in Setapak — Sky Awani 4 Residences, also with a fixed selling price of RM300,000.

Ng said the project is currently being planned and the company has not decided the layout and gross development value (GDV), but the selling price will remain the same as other Sky Awani affordable homes.

“This will also be the second RUMAWIP project in the Setapak area. We have unveiled Sky Awani 3 in Setapak in July this year and to date, we have received more than 2,000 keen registrants showing their interest to purchase the 1,905 units,” he added.

The leasehold 4.55-acre Sky Awani 3 has a GDV of RM570 million, boasting the longest sky gardens with three inter-connected 52-storey towers and more than 20 facilities over level eight and level 52.

SkyWorld executive director and chief operating officer Lee Chee Seng noted that Sky Awani 3 will also be the tallest RUMAWIP project in the Setapak area, where the residents could enjoy a beautiful view of Kuala Lumpur city.

Besides the Sky Awani affordable homes, he also revealed that the company will be launching the Sky Vogue development with 333 units and an estimated GDV of RM280 million year end.

“The low density pure residential project will be built on a two-acre leasehold tract in Taman Desa, we will disclose the details next month,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Federal Territories Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor pointed out that the RUMAWIP programme has achieved 85% of its target to build 80,000 affordable homes by 2020.

“As at August this year, a total of 67,892 units, including ‘completed projects’, ‘under construction’ and projects that have obtained development orders, have been launched to the public,” he said in his speech today.

Under the RUMAWIP programme, the government aims to work together with developers to develop 80,000 housing affordable homes throughout the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan in five years.

RUMAWIP is only available to Malaysian citizens who are at least 18 years old and either work or stay in any of the Federal Territories.

Single individuals with monthly incomes of less than RM10,000 or married couples with household incomes of less than RM15,000 are entitled to register for RUMAWIP projects.
