SINGAPORE (Dec 12): Singapore has dropped out from the list of the world’s top 20 most expensive cities for expatriates to live and work in, according to the latest cost of living research published by mobility solutions provider ECA International.

The city state has been found to now rank as the 21st most expensive city globally – dropping five places from the year before and now at its lowest since 2014, having been overtaken by cities such as Tel Aviv and Copenhagen on the back of strengthening European currencies.

Regionally, however, Singapore’s ranking remains unchanged at 9th place as the region’s most expensive city for expatriates, despite its neighbours ranking among the world’s cheapest locations. Kuala Lumpur, for instance, is down at No. 213 in the global rankings, following closely behind Mongolia's Ulaanbaatar which has claimed the spot as Asia’s cheapest location...
