KUALA LUMPUR (July 25): The Home Ministry should produce evidence that it is investigating tycoon Low Taek Jho’s alleged dual citizenship, said DAP parliamentarian Ng Wei Aik.

Ng refused to believe that the government had sent any letters to St Kitts & Nevis, the West Indian island-state which is reported to have issued an international passport to Low, better known as Jho Low.

“I highlighted this matter to the National Registration Department (JPN) on June 21,” Ng told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

“Malaysians are waiting for an update on the investigation. However, JPN said on July 22 that it has yet to receive any relevant information from the letter it sent to Wisma Putra,” said the member of parliament for Tanjung.

Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican said over the weekend that Wisma Putra is awaiting the outcome report from the Home Ministry, which is investigating Low’s alleged dual citizenship.

“Who is telling the truth now? Everyone is kicking the case about,” said Ng. “Is this because the government is delaying its action that might be taken against Jho Low?”

“I urge Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to produce evidence of its correspondence with St Kitts and Nevis,” he said.

Low, whose whereabouts is unknown, is linked to the US Department of Justice’s investigation into alleged misappropriation of funds from 1Malaysia Development Fund (1MDB).
