PORT DICKSON (Dec 2): Shell Refining Company (SRC) is working closely with the relevant authorities in clean-up efforts following an oil leak incident on Thursday evening.

In a statement today, SRC confirmed that the oil leak near its Port Dickson jetty which occurred yesterday evening originated from the company’s single buoy mooring. The leakage, it said, has since been contained.

“The cleaning activity of the oil sheen and the safety of the community and the responders are our utmost priority.

“We are working closely with the relevant local authorities to resolve the situation as quickly as possible,” SRC said in the statement.

According to the oil and gas company, the clean-up operation, which involves the Petroleum Industry of Malaysia Mutual Aid Group Port Dickson and the fire department, is in progress.

Apart from deploying absorbent booms, SRC personnel are also monitoring the shoreline along the coast of the popular beach.
