PORT DICKSON (Dec 5): Shell Refining Company (SRC) confirmed today that no oil was found to have reached the shoreline of Port Dickson following an oil leak incident last Thursday.

SRC, which had earlier reported that the oil sheen discovered near its jetty in Batu 1, Jalan Pantai, Port Dickson  was from its single buoy mooring, said clean-up work was completed by Saturday evening.

“Regular shoreline and sea surveillance was conducted, with support by the Petroleum Industry of Malaysia Mutual Aid Group Port Dickson (PIMMAG), confirming that there are no longer traces of oil sheen,” it said in a statement.

“Incident of this nature is regrettable and we will be looking into the incident internally, as well as collaborate with the relevant authorities in their investigations, to ensure that lessons are learned and action is taken to prevent any recurrence,” it added.

SRC also lauded the quick assistance and expertise extended by the Department of Environment, Fire Department, Marine Department, Port Dickson Fishermen Association, Fisheries Department, Port Dickson Residents Association, and Petron which contributed to the successful clean-up effort.
