KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 21): While the issues of corruption and mismanagement at the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) was previously seen as a remote development by the settlers, residents of the Pasir Besar settlement in Negeri Sembilan are now feeling the heat of the agency’s cash flow issues.

According to Felda settler Yusof Jalaluddin, the allowance payments — the main source of funds for the settlers to cover their day-to-day expenses — have been delayed for almost two months now.

This has had an obvious impact on the local economy of Pasir Besar, based on the lack of shoppers seen at the morning market and shop lots around the settlement when The Edge paid a visit last week.

The problem is not limited to Pasir Besar either, as the settlers have said that other settlements in Negeri Sembilan are facing the same issues as well.
