KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): The Selangor government aims to vaccinate one million industrial workers under the SelVAX Industry programme.

The programme, a component of the Selangor Vaccination Programme (SelVAX), is open to companies or industries which are willing to cover the cost to vaccinate their employees.

The cost is RM350 for the two doses per person, SelVAX said in a statement today.

It said priority will be given to companies registered or operating in Selangor and the Klang Valley, including companies in the essential sectors approved by the National Security Council as well as those with a large number of employees.

Companies participating in SelVAX Industry are not allowed to impose any charges on their employees who undergo vaccination under the programme.

“Companies/employers participating in SelVAX Industry are not allowed to resell the appointment slots they have acquired to other companies/individuals,” said SelVAX.

“Industry’s needs in the manufacturing and services sectors will be given priority and factories and companies with the most employees will be given priority subject to the acceptance of offer and its processes. However, a category of SMEs [small and medium enterprises] with less than 200 employees will also be included in the programme simultaneously,” it added.

The initial phase of SelVAX Industry began on June 26. The next phase will be implemented from July 25 until the end of October.

SelVAX said it will also implement the SelVAX Industry vaccination process through the workplace vaccination programme — subject to the suitability of the hall/location — and also through state-owned SELGATE Healthcare Sdn Bhd's SELCARE panel clinics in Selangor and the Klang Valley.

SelVAX said the vaccination rate capacity in these locations can reach 40,000 doses per day at its maximum.

The five vaccination centres for the SelVAX Industry are Tropicana Gardens Mall in Kota Damansara, Evo Mall in Bandar Baru Bangi, Hotel De Palma in Shah Alam, Kompleks Sukan PKNS in Kelana Jaya and Aurora Place in Bukit Jalil.

SelVAX was recently accepted as one of the supporting programmes for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).

As of yesterday (July 4), Malaysia has administered 9.01 million Covid-19 vaccination doses, said the  Special Committee for Ensuring Access to Covid-19 Vaccine Supply (JKJAV), citing data from the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF).

Sarawak reported the highest cumulative number of first doses delivered at 1.2 million, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 1.15 million, the CITF said.

For second doses, Selangor registered the highest number of vaccine shots administered at 348,853 followed by Sarawak at 299,593.
