SCHOLARSHIPS from The Edge Education Foundation (TEEF) are enabling 13 outstanding students to pursue their studies at local universities from this year onwards without having to worry about their finances.

The 13 were among a group of 21 recipients of TEEF scholarships who visited The Edge’s office on Wednesday, Jan 30, for tea. The foundation’s CEO Dorothy Teoh said since 2017, TEEF has awarded a total of 26 scholarships to outstanding students from throughout Malaysia based on need. TEEF received about 180 applications last year, she added.

In expressing her gratitude for the financial aid, Christine Mening Ngau, 22, from Miri, Sarawak, said: “The scholarship enabled me to focus on excelling in my studies and think less about paying my fees on time or whether I would be able to pay my fees.”

Christine received a TEEF scholarship to partially fund her second and final year studies in finance and management at Curtin University in Sarawak. She completed her studies last year and is hoping to pursue a Master’s in Finance at Curtin.

The students were given a brief tour of the newsroom after the tea meeting at which they received their scholarship letters from TEEF trustee Raja Maizura Raja Ariff and goody bags from The Edge editor-in-chief Azam Aris. They also met Datuk Ho Kay Tat, publisher and group CEO of The Edge Media Group, over tea.
