KUALA LUMPUR: The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has revoked the dealer’s licence of Shaiful Nazren Kassim for improper business practices.

Shaiful was formerly working in AmInvestment Bank Bhd.

In a statement yesterday, the regulator said Shaiful’s Capital Markets Services Representative’s Licence (CMSRL) was revoked as he is “no longer fit ... to carry out regulated activities in the Malaysian capital market, as he was found to have conducted himself in such a way as to cast doubt on his competence and soundness of judgement”.

The revocation was made under Section 72 read together with Section 65 of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007.

A penalty of RM123,750 was also imposed on Shaiful for failure to comply with the condition of his CMSRL, which requires him to remain fit at all times.

The SC also said it had considered and rejected an appeal by Shaiful against the regulator’s decision.

On July 2, Shaiful appealed to the SC against the sanctions imposed. However, the SC decided to affirm the sanctions but allowed Shaiful to make the payment of the penalty in 24 monthly instalments.
