KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 21): Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia (PR1MA), has clarified that more than half of the total available PR1MA housing units have been taken up by homebuyers of the middle income group, signifying a good feedback from the target market.

PR1MA said as at Nov 15, a total of 12,640 units of PR1MA homes have been sold, with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM3.16 billion, which is more than 50% of the 25,132 units that are currently open for sale.

This was in response to a report by The Sun Daily dated Nov 20 entitled 'Out of Reach', which PR1MA said could be misleading to readers.

"Perbadanan PR1MA Malaysia, which is in various stages of building 141,661 units of PR1MA homes, have only managed to sell 11,944 units — a telling sign that many in the country are unable to afford a house," as reported by The Sun Daily.

According to PR1MA, the report is inaccurate because not all of the 141,161 units are currently open for sale, as they are in various stages in which some are still in the process of obtaining approval from authorities.

"In fact, the response for PR1MA projects have been well received in key locations. For example, the PR1MA @ Jalan Jubilee in Bukit Bintang was oversubscribed by 27 times. A total of 224 units or 42% of the 542 units up for sale were taken up in only three days during the last weekend," PR1MA said in a statement today.

PR1MA added it is targeting to sell 16,250 units by end of the year, through its nationwide roadshow — the PR1MA Open Day.

"We wish to highlight that PR1MA is committed to deliver homes with lifestyle and community concepts for homebuyers from the middle-income group (M40) with a household income between RM2,500 – RM15,000 a month," it said.
