KUALA LUMPUR (May 24): Datuk Samsudin Abu Hassan has been appointed as an independent director and a member of the audit committee of Silver Ridge Holdings Bhd.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Silver Ridge said Samsudin's appointment was with effect from today.

Samsudin, 61, is a seasoned corporate personality, having been involved in corporate finance, investment banking especially mergers and acquisitions, stock and equity markets in various industries and investments both in Malaysia and overseas over the past 30 years.

In his heyday, Samsudin was linked to companies such as Landmarks Bhd, Aokam Perdana Bhd, Mitrajaya Bhd, Bolton Properties Bhd, Kejora Harta Bhd and Peremba Bhd — a company linked to former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin. He was also reported then to be a protégé of Daim.

In a separate filing, Silver Ridge, which is involved in the supply and installation of telecommunication equipment, announced the resignation of Mohamad Ashshakur Marzuki, 25, as its independent director.

Silver Ridge shares closed unchanged at 21.5 sen today, for a market capitalisation of RM26 million.
