KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 18): Salcon Bhd's 25%-owned joint venture (JV) secured a water supply upgrading work contact that is worth VND426.19 billion or RM77.1 million for Haiphong City, Vietnam.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Salcon said Bach Dang-Salcon Joint Venture had received a letter of acceptance from Haiphong Water Joint Stock Company to rehabilitate and upgrade Haiphong Water supply system — phase two, and provide material supply and installation of Au Duong component.

The JV was established as an unincorporated joint venture between Bach Dang Construction Corp JSC (75%) and Salcon Engineering Bhd (25%), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Salcon.

Salcon said the project would take two years to complete, and will begin on Jan 5 next year.

Hence, Salcon said the project will contribute positively towards the group's earnings for financial year ending Dec 31, 2018 (FY18) to FY20.

At 2:43pm today, Salcon was trading at 46.5 sen, up one sen or 2.2%, valuing the group at RM303.14 million.
