KUALA LUMPUR(May 15): Datuk Ramlee Marahaban, who stood as a Barisan Nasional candidate in Sabah in the May 9 general election, has resigned from the board of Suria Capital Holdings Bhd.

Ramlee, 54, was defeated by Parti Warisan Sabah president and newly appointed Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal in the Semporna Parliamentary constituency.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Suria Capital said Ramlee’s resignation as a non-independent and non-executive director was by virtue of his resignation as the chairman of Warisan Harta Sabah Sdn Bhd, which is a substantial shareholder of Suria Capital.

“Datuk Ramlee had resigned as the director and chairman of Warisan Harta Sabah and thus had relinquished all his related directorships,” said Suria Capital.

Ramlee was appointed to the board of Suria Capital on Feb 3, 2016. Prior to this, he was a public servant for more than 11 years, serving the Education Department, Customs Department and Ministry of Human Resources.

Warisan Harta Sabah, the investment arm of Sabah, controls some 45% of Suria Capital, which operates Sabah Ports.
