PETALING JAYA (April 25): Some members of The Real Estate & Housing Developers’ Association Youth section (Rehda Youth) drew lessons in planning for vertical spaces and projects during its April study tour of two projects in Kuala Lumpur.

The study tour to M-City and Pertubuhan Arkitek Malaysia (PAM) building for 44 of its members took place on April 12.

According to organising committee member Ethan Lai, the April study tour looked into the subject of “vertical planning” including understanding how various facilities and usage of space were configured on small land areas.

“The visit to M-City demonstrated on a macro scale how a high-density residential complex is complimented with multiple common facilities for residents to enjoy as well as different thematic ‘landscape bridges’ that offer an alternative ground level perception.

“While on a micro level, the new PAM building is designed meticulously with awareness to its surroundings by fusing many green features and clever multi-level distribution of its functional spaces,” he told TheEdgeProperty.com.

Another organising committee member Shanaz Azwin Muztaza said the study tour has given Rehda Youth members insight and valuable knowledge into ingenious planning and design when working on a small piece of land.

“Likewise with our previous study tours, the access to both the people behind the projects (architects, owners, etc) and guided tours to restricted areas (areas that are for residents only) generally make our study tours interactive and enjoyable.

“Each study tour is differentiated by its theme to ensure coverage on current trends and innovations in the real estate sector,” she said.

Shanaz added that in Rehda Youth’s upcoming study tour in May, the association will be looking into waste management. The proposed tour sites would be Pantai 2 Sewerage Treatment Plant and a waste recycling factory.
