KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 19): Ranhill Holdings Bhd said its indirectly-owned subsidiary AnuRAK Water Treatment Facilities Co Ltd has secured a 66 million baht (RM8.19 million) contract to upgrade Amata Water Co Ltd’s wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Amata City Industrial Estate, Rayong, Thailand.

This follows the approval of the proposal by Amata to expand the capacity of the plant from 10 million litres per day (MLD) to 15 MLD.

“The new upgrading project will cover the construction of an additional module of the existing wastewater treatment plant facilities built by AnuRAK to treat increasing volume of industrial wastewater at the industrial estate.

“The condition of this expansion apart from the revised minimum offtake as shown above shall be in accordance with the existing concession agreement of the said WWTP,” said the company in a filing with the bourse today.

The construction period for the project is estimated to take six months, starting from May 2018.

The company highlighted that it has four existing WWTPs with capacity totalling 45.5 MLD. The upgrading works will increase its total capacity to 50.5 MLD.

By end-2018, Thailand’s total treatment capacity will increase to 114 MLD from 102 MLD with the expansion of the WWTP as well as the 7 MLD reclamation water treatment plant for Amata City Phase 4 Industrial Estate, which was approved by Amata in October last year.

“The Amata WWTP upgrading project is expected to contribute positively to the revenue and earnings of the group upon completion,” it said.

Ranhill closed unchanged at 72 sen, giving it a market capitalisation of RM639.59 million.
