KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): A day before the country goes to the polls, Opposition leader Rafizi Ramli has claimed that his website, rafiziramli.com, and telephone line has been hacked.

The PKR vice-president said his website was not available since 10am, while hundreds of official documents, which included audited financial statements relating to the country’s major scandals, have been deleted.

Some of the deleted documents, he said, were related to government agencies and companies such as 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), Federal Land Development Authority (Felda), Lembaga Tabung Haji, Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT), National Feedlot Corp (NFC) and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara).

According to Rafizi, it is logical to suspect the Barisan Nasional-led campaign machinery to be the culprit behind the cyber attack.

“I would like to warn BN that I will fully investigate this matter. After GE14, I will bring this matter to justice,” Rafizi said in a strongly-worded statement today.

Rafizi said he was informed by DataKL.com, the company responsible for hosting his website, that all of the data and documents in his blog have been deleted.

“According to DataKL.com, while the hacking of my blog is not unusual, this is the first time that my website has been completely hacked. Hackers have managed to penetrate through the website hosting and deleted all of the information in my blog,” he said.

As for his telephone line, Rafizi claimed that it has been hacked and that he has received many calls from the public.

“I managed to talk to one of the callers, and I have found out that my line [phone] has been hacked to send many messages belittling Pakatan Harapan,” said Rafizi.

He has likened the hacking of his website and telephone line to the previous election in the United States, where external expertise from Russia was obtained to hack into the website hosting systems and affected the voting results.

Meanwhile, Rafizi called on Malaysians to bring upon change to the country by casting their votes tomorrow.

In a YouTube video posted by INVOKE Malaysia, the non-governmental organisation he heads, Rafizi said everyone has his or her role in society, no matter how small it may seem to be.

"I always say change can only happen with little contributions from each of us, because the small contributions will collectively be big when everyone contributes," he said.
