KUALA LUMPUR (July 18): Puncak Niaga Holdings Bhd has appointed Datuk Zainal Abidin Salleh as its new managing director, effective immediately.

Zainal, 55, takes over from Azlan Shah Rozali, who has resigned from the position due to the group's internal re-organisation, the group said in a filing today.

Zainal joined Puncak Niaga in August 2015 and had been appointed as the managing director of Murni Estate Sdn Bhd on Nov 9, 2015 to lead the plantation and agro business.

Prior to this, Zainal was the group chief executive officer of KUB Malaysia Bhd.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Agribusiness) honours and diploma in Agriculture Sciences from University Putra Malaysia.

Azlan had been acting managing director of the company from Aug 3, 2016 to July 17, 2018, and has subsequently been appointed as alternate director effective today. He is the eldest son of Tan Sri Rozali Ismail, executive chairman and major shareholder of Puncak Niaga.

Puncak Niaga shares closed unchanged today at 53 sen, with a market capitalisation of RM237.04 million.
