KUALA LUMPUR (June 25): Proton Holdings Bhd is not discounting the possibility of exporting its cars to Tajikistan soon, said its CEO Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah. Abdul Harith said Proton, as well as the business community that came with the President Emomali Sharipovich Rahmon on a four-day visit to Malaysia which ended today, was studying the market feasibility. "Perhaps, as a start, we can send completely built-up Proton cars from Malaysia as we adopt the ideology of whichever country that we can penetrate, we will try. "In terms of setting up manufacturing facilities in Tajikistan, we have to see whether it is economically viable as volume is important to make such a huge investment," he told reporters on the sidelines of the visit of the president to Proton's Centre of Excellence Complex and manufacturing facilities here today. Abdul Harith said the president would like the people of Tajikistan to learn and visit was to see if there were areas they could work with Malaysia, or even Proton. The president spent about an hour visiting the facility.
