KUALA LUMPUR (April 19): Proton dealers on a visit to a Geely 4S centre in Shanghai were informed of the overwhelming response for the Geely Boyue, on which the upcoming Proton sport utility vehicle (SUV) is based.
In a statement, Proton Holdings Bhd said its dealers recently visited the Shanghai Jinxi Automobile Sales and Service outlet, where they had the opportunity to view a "model outlet" firsthand.
During a briefing session to welcome the delegates from Proton, the outlet's General Manager and Dealer Principal, Xu Zhi Ming, said the Geely Boyue SUV had been particularly well received by the public, selling over 30,000 units a month.
"For those who have booked, they would need to wait a good six months (to get the car),” he said, adding that Boyue had surpassed other SUVs in terms of sales in the same segment.
Xu also said for a newbie in the SUV market, the response from the public had been overwhelming, with the Boyue being one of the fastest growing brands in China.
He expressed hope that the Malaysian public would experience the same joy and experience that the SUV had given to consumers in China. — Bernama
