KUALA LUMPUR (April 8): Apparel manufacturer Prolexus Bhd's managing director Lau Mong Ying has retired from his post, the latter said amid a slew of boardroom changes it announced to Bursa Malaysia on Friday (April 8).

Mong Ying's retirement took effect on the same day, according to the group's bourse filing. The 73-year old man will remain with the company as senior advisor.

First appointed to the board in 1993 as group chairman and MD, Mong Ying relinquished the chairman's role in 2002 but remained as MD until now, Proleuxus's 2021 annual report showed.

Meanwhile, Mong Ying's brother Lau Mong Fah has resigned from his role as the group’s non-independent and non-executive director, together with independent and non-executive director Boo Chin Liong, citing other business commitments.

The company also announced the redesignation of non-executive director Tan Eik Huang as executive director. The 37-year-old also sits on the board of YB Ventures Bhd as its independent and non-executive director.  

Shares in Prolexus closed down 4.5 sen or 6.16% to 68.5 sen on Friday. Year-to-date, the stock has risen 71.25% or 28.5 sen from 40 sen on Jan 3.
