KUALA LUMPUR (April 5): Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad claimed today that the deregistration of his party signifies that the upcoming general election will not be a fair battle.

PPBM has been temporarily disbanded by the Registrar of Societies over its alleged failure to provide necessary documents.

“I cannot identify myself with my party because it has been declared illegal,” said Mahathir, adding that the move affects the Pakatan Harapan coalition too as “it has an illegal party as a member now”.

Speaking at a forum organised by the Minorities Rights Action Party, Mahathir accused the government of trying to ensure its victory at all cost.

“There is no fair election, they are willing to use whatever method to win the election,” he claimed.

Calling on Malaysians to vote for the opposition coalition in this election, he said: “We are in a critical time now, facing a situation which we have not experienced before.”
