KUALA LUMPUR (June 14): Electrical switchgears manufacturer Powerwell Holdings Bhd has bagged a US$2.135 million contract from Bangladesh-based firm Intraco Solar Power Ltd to supply low voltage switchboards and medium voltage switchgear panels using 33 kilovolt gas insulated switchgear for the latter's 30MW solar power plant project in Rangpur, Bangladesh.

In a bourse filing today, ACE Market-listed Powerwell said its wholly-owned subsidiary Powerwell International Sdn Bhd on June 11 received the purchase order from Intraco.

The delivery of the supply contract is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

"The supply contract is expected to contribute positively to Powerwell's consolidated earnings and net assets for the financial year ending March 31, 2022," it said.

Powerwell shares closed up 0.5 sen or 2.22% at 23 sen today, bringing a market capitalisation of RM130.62 million.
