KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is currently awaiting instructions from the Attorney General’s (AG’s) Chambers for further action on the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) case.

In a written reply to Tony Pua (pic) (DAP-Petaling Jaya Utara), the ministry of home affairs said police had presented their investigation papers relating to 1MDB to the AG’s Chambers a few times and the public prosecutor had also reverted with instructions for further actions.

“PDRM has undertaken investigations as instructed by the AG’s Chambers and referred back these investigation papers to the AG’s Chambers. Up to now, PDRM is still waiting for further advice and instructions from the AG’s Chambers,” the ministry said.

Pua had asked about the progress of the investigations into Datuk Shahrol Halmi and other management executives involved in the 1MDB scandal who the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) had recommended to be investigated.

“Has the case been closed and none of the parties found guilty?” Pua asked.

In April last year, the PAC, chaired by Barisan Nasional lawmaker Datuk Seri Hassan Arifin, tabled a 106-page report before the Dewan Rakyat, highlighting governance issues on fund management and recommended that Shahrol be held responsible.

The committee, of which Pua is a member, suggested that 1MDB’s advisory board, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, be abolished and all 1MDB assets be transferred to the Minister of Finance Inc.
