SLEEK, plush and cosy - The Oak Room is poised to be more than just an exclusive lounge as UOA Hospitality Sdn Bhd, which owns and manages the space, aims to elevate it into a conversation piece whenever privilege and prestige are mentioned. Although it is only available to invited members now, the hospitality arm of UOA Group intends to open up The Oak Room to host more high-end private and corporate events, said UOA Hospitality executive assistant manager Brendon Lee. “We want to cater to more exclusive events. It is part of our business strategy,” he said in a recent interview with The Edge.

For example, The Oak Room played host to an intimate wedding reception since opening in August this year. “The couple chose to hold their reception here because of the atmosphere,” said Lee, adding that people are also attracted to the location of The Oak Room at Nexus in Bangsar South as it is a relatively new area. Be it a private party, a corporate function, or something as casual as just high tea among friends, The Oak Room is gaining traction among social elites as the place to see and be seen.

Lee said the group hopes to generate buzz about The Oak Room and its membership by opening the space to corporate events. He said The Oak Room complements the rest of Nexus in Bangsar South, UOA Group’s 60-acre award winning integrated city development. Nexus is a food and lifestyle destination that offers a plethora of dining, retail and leisure options. “The Oak Room is not a singular entity but complements the rest of the integrated Bangsar South development,” said Lee.
