KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): Shares in Poh Huat Reources Bhd fell 2.55% this morning before trading was halted for one hour following the company's announcement that a fire occurred at one of the five factory buildings belonging to Poh Huat Furniture Industries (M) Sdn Bhd (PHFI), its main operating subsidiary in Muar, Johor.

At the time of writing, Poh Huat was down 4 sen to RM1.53 with 263,700 shares done.

In a filing this morning, Poh Huat said the fire started between 1.00am and 1.30am on Sunday (Jan 21), and was put out at about 2.30am.

It said other production facilities at Bukit Pasir, Muar, were not affected and production activities were running as normal.

Poh Huat said PHFI's affected factory comprised the loading and assembly areas.

"The damages sustained from fire incident are restricted to the building mentioned above," it said.

It added that the estimated of the value of the destroyed areas was yet to be ascertained, adding that all the assets, materials and finished goods are sufficiently insured.

In a separate announcement, Poh Huat said trading in its securities would be halted from 10.10am until 11.10am today.
