KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 27): Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) is set to undergo an organisational transformation under the stewardship of newly-appointed chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, particularly in the implementation of technology.

This includes the review of its five-year transformation programme "Strive 15" ending 2022, which included a target of RM350 billion asset under management (AUM) at the end of the programme.

"The Strive 15 [initiative] is at mid-point now… Given that domestic and international environment are rapidly changing, and we are faced with many new challenges, it is very appropriate to make a review at this point in time and see what changes we need to make," said Zeti.

This will help the government-linked investment company (GLIC) to better leverage in terms of operations and in terms of its income distribution, said Zeti at a press conference on PNB's year-to-date financial performance here.

Steps to be taken include: to diversify into the "great opportunities" in the emerging markets, to better manage risks and also to strengthen its buffers in light of uncertainties across the market environment, said the former central banker.

"This will be the approach that we are taking, we will not rush into it, we will build our capabilities and then venture forward," she added.
