KUALA LUMPUR (March 22): The Prime Minister’s office has denied Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak issued any letter to ask for contributions and loyalty to him in lieu of the coming 14th General Election (GE14).

National news agency Bernama yesterday reported that principal Private Secretary to Najib, Datuk Iskandar Mohd Kaus said the action (of issuing the letter) was the work of certain parties out to belittle the position of the prime minister for their political ends.

He said the Prime Minister's Office was informed that certain irresponsible parties had circulated the letter purportedly from Najib to get contributions and loyalty, said Bernama.

It said Iskandar in statement yesterday said: "The false letter which was distributed, used the government's official stationery and supposedly signed by the prime minister himself, was sent to the chairmen and chief executive officers of private organisations and government companies.”

He said the Prime Minister's Office had lodged a police report on the circulation of the false letter.
