KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 30): Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) will adhere to the Malaysian federal government's future decision on the proposed 20% oil royalty for oil-producing states in the country, president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin said today.

"For Petronas, we will be guided by the federal government of Malaysia, being our shareholder, whatever the final outcome will be.

"What I have to say is we are leaving the discussion [on the oil royalty] between the federal and the state government. We will provide input and scenarios but we will not be involved in the discussion," Wan Zulkiflee said.

He said this here today at a press conference in conjunction with Petronas' second quarter results announcement.
