KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 30): Local compact carmaker Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) has sold 112,500 vehicles in the first seven months of this year, which accounted for 35.4% of the country's total vehicles sold or total industry volume of 317,900 vehicles in the same period.

Of that, 10,000 of Perodua's sales volume is made up of its newest model Bezza that has accumulated over 25,000 orders since bookings opened on July 16, said Perodua in a statement.

"For the month of July, we delivered over 2,600 Bezza in the 10-day period it was launched. So far in August, we have delivered 7,400 units and we will maximise delivery for the convenience of our customers," said Perodua Sales Sdn Bhd managing director Zahari Husin.

Perodua said from the 10,000 Bezza units, 44% are from the 1.3L Advanced Version (Automatic Transmission), 43% are from the Premium X 1.3L (Automatic Transmission), 3% from the Premium X 1.3L (Manual Transmission), 9% from the Perodua Bezza 1.0L (Automatic Transmission) and 1% from the Perodua Bezza 1.0L (Manual Transmission).

Perodua said the Bezza model is manufactured from the first Malaysian energy efficient vehicle (EEV)-certified manufacturing plant, Perodua Global Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, in Sungai Choh, Rawang, Selangor.

Zahari, who handed over Bezza's 10,000th unit to car owner Zetty Aswani Fazwin Mahrol Puthil, 28, from Shah Alam today, said the car price ranges between RM37,300 and RM50,800.
